Cooking with Cannabis: 5 Amazing Recipes!

Whether you’re an experienced veteran with cannabis, or brand new to the community, and whether you use cannabis for recreation, or for a medical condition and symptoms you’re treating, the world of cannabis edibles opens up a whole new realm of eating.

There are many great edibles on the market today, and all you have to do is stop into your local dispensary to see and sample some of the many choices.

Even in specialty restaurants throughout the country, you can sit down to some delicious recipes with the right amount of cannabis injected or mixed in to meet your needs.

Here are some we think you’ll like to try:

Hash Yogurt

If you’re just beginning to learn what you can do with cannabis, here’s a simple recipe for hash yogurt that’s perfect for after dinner, and won’t take a lot of time to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tub of yogurt – the flavor preference is yours, but strawberry and chocolate make great choices
  • About a joint’s amount of cannabis (around 0.5g is good)
  • Oil – butter or coconut works best
  • Cooking or frying pan
  • Stove

How to make it:

  • Pour the butter or coconut oil into a pot or frying pan that’s warmed over low to medium heat.
  • Crumble the cannabis into the cooking oil after it’s melted.
  • Let the oil and cannabis melt and combine after a couple of minutes over the heat.
  • After oil and cannabis have thoroughly mixed, pour in your yogurt and combine it all together.
  • Let it all cool, then enjoy!

Nugtella

For a chocoholic, here’s one recipe you can turn to in order to satisfy a sweet tooth. It takes nuts, cannabis, and that favorite spread of choice, Nutella. Once combined, it’s one of the coolest treats around.

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar of Nutella (easy to find at most grocery stores)
  • Cannabis-infused oil – check out the recipe here:
  • Mixing bowl

How to make it:

  • Put Nutella in a mixing bowl (amount can vary, depending on how much you want).
  • Mix in one dose of cannabis oil for every serving of Nutella you want. Stir to mix together the oil and Nutella until oil is evenly distributed throughout the chocolate, and the oil can not be seen at all.
  • Refrigerate to cool before serving.

Cannabis Ice Cream

If you scream for ice cream, enjoying it with some cannabis combined will make it even more blissful! This cannabis ice cream is just for adults, so don’t get it confused with kids’ favorite!

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml of ice cream (your choice of flavor)
  • 75 g of sugar
  • 50 g of cannabis butter
  • 2 saucepans
  • Mixing bowl

How to make it:

  • Heat ice cream in a saucepan over medium heat to a simmer.
  • In the second saucepan, melt 50 g of cannabis butter, incorporating the sugar so that it all melts together to form a rich, sweet, cannabis filled liquid.
  • Mash up your fruit of choice to the texture you prefer in a mixing bowl. Any fruit that suits your taste is fine to use.
  • Combine all of your ingredients into a large container.
  • Set the container into the freezer until it freezes in a few hours, then take a scoop and enjoy!

Paleo Gummy Bears

Here’s a recipe for those irresistible gummy candies you couldn’t get enough of as a kid. Now here’s the adult version, with some cannabis thrown in to keep it on the “healthier” side.

Ingredients:

  • ⅔ cup pureed fruit (using any kind of berry, like strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries is fine).
  • ⅓ cup water
  • One tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Two tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
  • 2-3 tsp. of cannabis tincture
  • Three tablespoons grass-fed gelatin (you should be able to find this specialty item online or in select health food stores)
  • A gummy bear mold
  • 1 saucepan

How to make it:

  • Combine the fresh fruit or juice into a saucepan with ⅓ cup water, lemon juice, and sweetener, and set it on a medium-low heat.
  • Add the cannabis tincture to the mixture, then slowly whisk in the grass-fed gelatin.
  • Continue whisking the mixture until it’s smooth and well-combined.
  • Turn off the heat and, using a spoon or dropper, fill your mold with the mixture.
  • Set the gummy bears in the freezer for 5 minutes, or 15 minutes in the refrigerator, after which your candy will be ready to remove from the mold and ready to enjoy!

You might consider microdosing these gummy bears, as they contain a lot of healthy nutrients. Microdosing is ingesting very small, measured amounts of cannabis mainly for its medicinal benefits so as not to produce the psychoactive high.

Chocolate-coated Bananas

The amazing taste of chocolate-covered bananas isn’t lost on cannabis users! Here’s a fantastically simple and fast recipe that includes a cannabutter recipe that adds just enough of a buzz to make it a delightful treat.

Ingredients:

  • Half of a sliced banana
  • ½ teaspoon of cannabis oil or Cannabutter
  • One tablespoon of chocolate chips (dark, milk, or white)
  • Heat-proof bowl
  • Parchment paper

How to make it:

  • Place your chocolate chips and cannabis oil (or cannabutter) into a heatproof bowl that can be placed in the oven.
  • Heat slowly over low temperature, allowing mixture to gently melt without burning or ruining the cannabinoids in the oil (around 120 degrees).
  • Once melted, stir the mixture until it’s super smooth with no lumps or bumps.
  • When you are happy with the look of the bananas, place them on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet and pop them into the freezer.
  • After they’re frozen, that’s it! Try your cannabis-infused treats and enjoy!

For patients who have a great love of food, along with their cannabis, these recipes might add a little more enjoyment to your regimen of taking medicinal cannabis for relief and management of symptoms from medical conditions.

Keep in mind though that cannabis-infused edibles don’t work the same as smoking or vaping cannabis, and take longer to enter your system. So the relief you may be seeking from conditions like pain may take longer to feel.

There are many great cannabis-rich recipes to choose from that are in circulation around the country. Depending on the kind of specialist restaurants available in your area, you might be able to find places that serve pizza, pasta dishes, curry, ice cream, and even wine! Because of the boom in the growth of the cannabis industry, the gastronomic side of cannabis use has also blossomed.
